The Federal Government during the week said it will train ex-agitators in agriculture and they will in turn produce bumper harvest in the next one year. The special adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, General Paul Boroh, disclosed this during the induction ceremony of the delegates at the Bio-resources Development Centre, BIODEC, Odi, Bayelsa State.

During the ceremony a total of 500 delegates were inducted for the training in batches of 100 for each tranch.  Boroh explained that agriculture remained the principal and most active resources our parents engaged in.

According him, the shift from agriculture to oil has had a tremendous impact on Nigeria bringing about hunger and starvation. At the same event, Director General of National Biotechnology Development Agency, NABDA, Prof. Lucy Ogbadu, said she was very happy as this collaboration is coming at a critical time in the history of our country. She said, “you are going into a specialised and technical field where you need to think a lot to be able to cope in the present drive of agriculture.
