ONITSHA—The Campaign for Democracy, CD, has urged all the judges who were arrested for alleged corrupt practices to step aside pending the outcome of investigations.

In a press statement issued in Onitsha, Anambra State yesterday, CD’s National Publicity Secretary, Uzor A. Uzor said the reason for asking them to step aside was due to the sensitivity of their office, as they could develop biased minds while presiding over matters at the same time when their corruption allegations are being investigated.
Besides, CD contended that the credibility and integrity attached to their office as judges are so supreme that they cannot be in the temple of justice and at the same time, be facing allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
According to the statement, “The judges should honourably step aside to allow proper investigations into their case. CD is not also happy with a cross section of lawyers who are insinuating that the arrests of the affected judges was an interference and against judicial arm of government.”
