V4C hosts Sanusi, others @men for 50-50 confab

VOICES4Change (V4C) a Non Government Organisation (NGO) is set to host the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, Women’s Activist, Dr. Amina Salihu, Richard Mofe-Damejo, Joke Sylver, among others at the “Men for 50-50 Conference.” Voices4Change is a programme implemented on October 1, 2013 and is being funded by UK AID, working to strengthen the enabling environment for gender equality in Nigeria.

The conference is scheduled to hold on November 3 and 4 2016 at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Lagos where over 300 men are expected to be in attendance with a panel discussion session that would involve the representative of the Emir, Sheik Bin Usman.

Speaking at a press briefing, Output Lead, Key Influencers, Mr. Denis Onoise, said that the conference is an all men summit to discuss and share their experiences about promoting positive masculinity in their lives and in the women they have worked with either as a mother, wife, sister or daughter.

He said that the conference theme “Men For 50-50” would be divided into five sub theme including: Violence; women and leadership; decision making; responsible fatherhood and healthy relationship.

Onise who said that the conference will serve as an opportunity to look at issues of gender and religion, stated: “This is an opportunity to look at the issue of gender and religion.

Men and women should partner in such a way that they leave a more respectable life, we want to see more men and women leaving together and having some form of healthier relationship rather than having the man die too early because of traditions and culture and the woman also struggling to survive because of what culture and tradition has said.
