BAUCHI—Umaru Adamu Mairakumi, the purported notorious kidnapper wanted in connection with over 17 kidnapping cases, has been arrested by operatives of Bauchi State Police Command, just as three other suspected robbers were also arrested.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahmood Mohammed, said that the suspect was a notorious cattle rustler and kidnap gang leader, who was wanted in connection with over 17 kidnappings, robbery and cattle rustling cases.

He added that the suspect was responsible for the kidnap of over 20 victims for ransom and rustling over 200 cows.

Mohammed: “Their victims include one Saleh Isah of Zidi village in Ganjuwa Local Government, Bauchi State, in September 2015. They shot him, then stole his 45 cows and 85 sheep.

“Exhibits recovered from the suspect included one AK-47 rifle, 60 cows and 85 sheep”

In a similar development, the state police command arrested three suspected robbers, who specialise in car snatching and burglary.

The police spokesperson said the suspects were behind series of burglaries and car thefts in Bauchi metropolis and beyond, including the recent robbery in the home of one Gidado Umar of Gida Dubu Housing Estate, Bauchi.

He said the suspects are assisting police in their investigations.

Exhibit recovered from the suspects include one Berretta pistol, one Macrov Pistol, one dark blue Toyota Highlander, one Toyota Corolla saloon car, with number plates YGJ 133 AA, one fabricated master key, six rounds of 0.6mm live ammunition and two cartridges.
