lagos—Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday said every nook and cranny in Lagos should be liveable and economically viable as this will reduce the whole idea of urban squalor.
The Governor said this when he inspected network of 25 roads linking Epe, Ikorodu, Ijebu Ode and Lekki axis. He also inspected the site where Epe Marina will be situated, which will be a replication of Dubai Marina.
Ambode was impressed with the job being done on the roads, saying the quality of roads meets international standards as the roads will boost the economy of the state eastwards and westwards especially tourism. He said the creation of Epe Marina will stretch two kilometres of real estate and tourism along the coastal lines .
Commissioner of works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ganiyu Johnson during the inspection tour said the network of roads is 30 kilometre of standard road, which is the backbone of Lekki Free Trade Zone, deep sea ports and proposed airport. Johnson said the state government’s intention is to stimulate the economy with these projects. He also said a replication of Epe Marina is being done at Badagry Marina and the project will be handed over end of next month.
The Governor said the creation of the new tourist centres at Epe and Badagry came out from the retreat held last week at Badagry which is one of the projects that will grow the Internal Generated Revenue, IGR, of Lagos in 2017 from N30 billion to N50 billion by 2018.
Ambode said; ‘’By the time we are investing in new tourist centers in Epe and Badagry, we will attract more investors to do more in recreation and tourism in Lagos State.’’
