Commissioners join Ondo gov race

Akure—THE race for the governorship election in Ondo State has heightened as more members of the State Executive Council, SEC, of Governor Segun Mimiko have thrown their hat into the fray.

Already, the commissioner for Environment, Hon Sola Ebiseni, tendered his resignation letter.

Also to tender their letters of resignation to contest for the coveted position according to dependable government sources are the present Attorney General and Justice Commissioner Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, and the Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner Bamiduro Dada.

The three cabinet members have signified their intentions to succeed the incumbent Governor Mimiko whose eight year tenure expires in February 2017.

Governorship election in the state has been scheduled for November 26 this year by INEC.

Ebiseni had spent six years as a commissioner under Dr Mimiko while Jegede started with the incumbent from 2009 till date.

The former Commissioner in his resignation  letter dated July 11, expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunities given him to serve “our state in various other capacities.”

Ebiseni noted that the opportunities included his appointment as “Chairman of the state Law Commission, twice as Commissioner in your cabinet, recommending me as a delegate of the South West to the 2014 National Conference and for being your preferred representative in several critical political engagements.

“To the Glory of God, there is no doubt that these positions have positively impacted the lives of our people and offered me the unique opportunity to etch my name and service indelible in the sand of time.”
