ABUJA—No fewer than seven states have signed into law a bill for the establishment of state health insurance agency.

This came as the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, has concluded plans to subsidise the payment of premium for all pregnant women and children under five years, who have registered in the Community-Based Social Health Insurance Programme, CBSHIP, for a period of three years in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

The states include Lagos, Delta, Bauchi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Abia and Anambra.

Acting Executive Secretary of NHIS, Femi Akingbade, who disclosed these at the official flag off of Bwari Area Council CBSHIP yesterday, noted that the target of the agency was to achieve the presidential mandate of ensuring universal coverage for Nigerians by the year 2025.
