Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach, Kadiri Ikhana, says he is relieved with his side’s 2-1 win over Heartland on Saturday in a match day 12 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game.

Muyiwa Lawal and Seun Akinyemi netted for the hosts to cancel out Anthony Oussou’s effort for the Naze Millionaires academic at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.

Ikhana says the win was extremely important as it comes after a period of “extreme stress” for his charges.

“My team has been under severe stress because we played almost nine matches in about 15 days.

“We lost our first match of the season so we have some ground to cover.

“It was important for us to win that game and it was a sweet victory for us,” Ikhana said.

The veteran trainer then revealed that he plans to make 3SC a force yet again on the continent.

“The ambition when I first arrived was to return 3SC to its former glory and gradually, we want to turn things around.

“3SC was much feared all across Africa years ago and that is what we want to achieve again,” he said.

3SC currently occupies the 11th position in the NPFL standings with 15 points from 11 matches.
