Akure—41 people have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command following the break-down of law and order in Akungba community over the death of a 200 level student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, AAU, last week.
The disorderliness followed protest of students of the university over the death of Ojo Afolabi Daniel, a 200 Economics Education Student of the institution in a road accident.
Miscreants reportedly hijacked the protest leading to destruction of the university’s health centre and the restaurant.
Speaking with Vanguard in Akure, the police image maker, Femi Joseph, said that those arrested were being interrogated.
Joseph said that those found to be innocent will be released while those found to be directly involved will face the consequences.
Meantime, the Vice Chancellor of the institution Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun and his principal officers went round the campus to inspect the extent of damage done by the rampaging students and the miscreants.
Also, the president of the institution’s Student Union Government, Comrade Adegbola Oduyemi has absolved the students of the damages.
