By Evelyn Usman

Residents of Arepo area of Ogun State, yesterday, took to the streets to protest the alleged killing of three youth by military men who are in the area to curb the menace of vandals.

The protesting residents who claimed that those killed were innocent, revealed that they were picked up in a pub around Voera Estate by some military personnel and taken to the bush where they were allegedly shot dead.

The deceased were identified simply as Body, Mohammed and Chicago.

The protesters who took over the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway, caused a traffic jam that lasted for hours.

Widow of one the victims, Mrs Motunrayo Mohammed, who spoke in tears, said “My husband was 24 years old. He resided in Shagamu. He only came to celebrate Easter with us, on the invitation of his mother .

The military men came around 7pm on Sunday. They went straight to the restaurant where my husband and his friends were. The name tags on the personnel are Ola and Jason. When I asked what my husband had done, they pointed a gun at me and asked me to keep quiet or have my head blown off. They took them away and since then we never saw nor heard from them.

We have gone to several places including the Army base in Ebute, but we were told that they were not there. Just this morning, our attention were drawn to some corpses found in the bush. To my greatest shock, they were those of my husband and his friends”, she said in tears.

Spokes person for the Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident but said that investigation had commenced into the matter.
