As the grading of the 260 km superhighway nears completion, Cross River State Government and Liebherr Ltd, an earth moving and mining equipment company with branches in Germany and Nigeria, have agreed on a pact.

Leading a three-man team from Germany on an inspection of the various grading sites from Bakassi to Obudu, as well as work on the deep sea port,

Sales Manager of the company, Rolf Bachmann, said he was impressed with the progress of the grading work, which he noted was near 90 per cent completion.

“The next thing we need to do is arrange special machines to embark on the next phase of the project,” he told journalists.

According to Bachmann, special equipment for bridge and road construction will be brought in by his firm.

He said, “With the bush being cleared, one phase of the job is nearly completed. The job so far done looks impressive but now the difficult stuff starts.”
