WARRI—THE Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikenwole I, yesterday, spoke on the spate of willful destruction of oil installations in Warri South- West Local Government Area and other localities in Delta State, saying that those behind the criminality risk condemnation by the gods.

In a statement by the Palace in Warri, through the Office of the Palace Secretary, the Olu said that such acts were designed to sabotage and deplete oil earnings accruing to Delta State and other agencies charged with the development of oil producing communities.

“The acts pull back the hands of the clock to the notorious dark days in the history of our dear state. Those behind the dastardly acts must change their ways and those fanning embers of ethnic crisis in the Niger Delta should repent now or face the wrath of the gods and ancestors,” he said.

He called on the Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko and other ethnic groups in the area to shun divisive tendencies and dissipate their energies and resources on partnering government at all levels to bring the culprits to justice.

“Those trying to use destruction of oil facilities to plunge the ethnic nationalities in the area into another orgy of violence will fail. The people are now wiser to their antics and selfish motives,” he added.
