We’ll encourage investment, create jobs —NPA boss

By Godfrey Bivbere

Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Habib Abdullahi, has said that the authority would support more investments in the maritime industry to create competition.

The NPA boss made this known when he paid a courtesy visit with his management team to the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base, LADOL, at the Apapa Port Pilotage District.

Abdullahi explained that investment in the sector would not only impact positively on the nation’s economy but would also create employment for Nigerian youths. He assured that NPA would give the necessary support to LADOL and other operators to ensure that they succeed.

According to him, “We will give LADOL and other operators all the support needed to succeed. This will create competitiveness and every other player will be given the chance to operate.”

Earlier, Managing Director of the Maritime Oil and gas service provider, Amy Jadesimi,  assured the NPA boss of her organizations determination to provide 5000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect jobs in the industry in due course when LADOL operations assume full swing.

Jadesimi also told the NPA boss that LADOL is Nigeria’s first and only wholly owned indigenous Nigerian Deep Offshore Logistic Base providing world class solution in areas of deep off-shore support for maritime and gas projects, agriculture and fabrications
