ILORIN—The new Commissioner of Police in Kwara State , Mr Esosa Amadasun, has warned criminals terrorising the state to repent or relocate, saying he was determined to make the state uncomfortable for them.
Amadasu, who reiterated his zero tolerance for cultism, thuggery and armed robbery, among other crimes and criminality, noted that efforts were in top gear to battle perpetrators of evils and other criminal activities in the state.
The new CP, who stated this during his courtesy visit to members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Ilorin yesterday, said: “As for armed robbers, rapists and cultist, I don’t have rooms for them in Kwara State.
“This is because personally, I don’t have a place for them in my mind. They are, hereby, advised to repent, relocate or get arrested and face the full wrath of the law.”
The police boss also commended the efforts of the Federal Government at making life more comfortable and conducive for police officers in the country.
He, however, condemned extortion of money by police personnel from members of the public and advised them to make satisfaction their priority.
He also urged the National Orientation Agency, NOA, to do more in the education of the citizenry towards salient issues of national interest to further foster harmonious relationship among the people.
While lamenting finance as the major challenge facing the force, Amadasun assured the general public that although the police command had been doing its best, it needed to demonstrate more improvement on the job.
He thanked various multinational establishments for their social services intervention of assisting the police with logistics.
According to him, this has made the discharge of their duties to members of the public a lot easier.
