The Acting Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, FCC, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Alkali has called on the Senate to comply with the commission’s guidelines and formulae in areas of the provision of employment opportunities, distribution of infrastructural facilities, socio- economic amenities and other indices.
Alhaji Alkali maintained that the call was necessary because the Federal Character Commission cannot interfere in the activities of the National Assembly saying “it is an institution on its own.”
The Acting Chairman who made the call while addressing members of the press in Abuja, added that it is necessary for the Senate to respect Nigeria’s constitution.
He said this is with a view to guaranteeing equitable and balanced development in the country.
“We cannot interfere in the national assembly because it is an institution but we expect them to respect Nigeria’s constitution and to also adhere to FCC principle.
