KANO – In a bid to resuscitate the moribund firms the Kano State Government has said that it will cede 60 percent of its share in the state owned Triumph Newspapers to the general public soon.

Speaking while inspecting the abandoned company that was shut by Kwankwaso administration in 2012, the Commissioner of Information, Mohammed Garba noted that public private partnership remains the only option to sustain the company.

Garba disclosed that most of the company machines were ‘desolate and outdated’, adding that ‘the only way to revive them is to get partners.’

The Commissioner said that they will retain 40 percent share of the company to protect the interests of the government and the state.

Garba reiterated that Triumph newspapers has a role to play for the development of Kano and the nation in general.

The outgoing NUJ President said the Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration had mandated him to find means of reviving the moribund company.
Triumph newspapers company was closed down for the first time in its 30 years of history by the former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in 2012.
The development resulted to the sacking, transfer and redeployment of the staff of the company to ministries and parastatals. .
