It’s interesting to note that despite increased pay-tv subscription in Nigeria, the sector is still expanding in the face of complaints by subscribers. The pay-tv market is actually growing in Nigeria. ABI Research had forecasted that global pay-tv subscribers will reach 858.1 million in 2012,that was a 5 percent annual increment from 2011, a number that has been surpassed.
According to the research the key growth will be driven by the Asian-Pacific market, which is expected to add more than 27million subscribers, without considering Africa and Nigeria in particular.
In Nigeria, new pay–tv companies continue to enter the market, with the latest being an indigenous Direct To Home, DTH cable television service provider, African Cable Television, ACTV, which launched into the market several months ago.
