Henrietta Otobo, the teenager who was rescued from the Shasha home of Funmilayo Adeyemi, the nanny that abducted Orekoya three children in Lawanson Road, Itire Lagos, a fortnight ago, was handed over to her parents by the Police in Lagos, yesterday.

Henrietta reportedly left Benin, Edo State, for Lagos, last November, to work as a house help in the Ajah home of the kidnap syndicate, unaware that she was being recruited.

The bubble burst following the arrest of her mistress, Adeyemi, over the kidnap and subsequent rescue of Orekoya children last week.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Funmilayo Adeyemi has said she is not a member of Mountain of Fire and Miracles, MFM, Ministries.

She said she had never worshipped in the church or stepped her feet near it all her life.

Her clarification is coming on the heels of reports that she was a member of MFM, as she had on a T-shirt with MFM’s logo and ‘Usher’ written on it.

Confirming her claim, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, expressed surprise at the continued unprintable names hauled at the church in the social media in spite of a disclaimer published in Saturday Vanguard, which stated emphatically that the suspect was not a member of MFM.

He said: “The nanny in question, by her personal confession, did state that she is not a member and never worshipped in any branch of MFM.

“She admitted to have been a member of one of the Pentecostal churches (name withheld) but has converted to a new religion (name withheld) on account of marriage.

“It is, however, imperative for us to stress the fact that crimes of this nature and, indeed crimes generally, are neither denomination nor religion specific. So for anybody or group of persons to link the suspect with any church or religion on account of this crime is not only mischievous but uncharitable.”

I didn’t stop Henrietta from being an actress— FATHER

On Henrietta’s reunion with her parents, who described the five months of their daughter’s disappearance from home as the most trying times in their lives, they said the appearance of her picture in Vanguard of April 17, assured them that she was not dead.

Her father, Mr. Anthony Otobo, refuted earlier claims by her daughter that he refused to give a nod of approval to her decision to become an actress.

He said: “I am an accountant. I can never stop her from pursuing her life ambition of becoming an actress. If she wants to be an actress, it is okay by me. I do not think I will deny her such ambition if that is her destiny.

“The result of the JAMB exam she took came out and she was offered admission into Delta State Polytechnic.

“When we return home, I will take her to our pastor because from what I read and heard, a lot of things happened where she was found.”

Police warning

While handing Henrietta over to her parents, the command’s spokesman, Kenneth Nwosu, said it was in furtherance of the command’s effort to show that justice was fully done and the liberation of victim seen to be total, informing that effort to arrest others, who were involved in the kidnap saga, was still on.

He advised parents to be security conscious and urged churches to provide safe places for children until services are over.

According to Henrietta, “ I did not leave home because my parents did not shower love on me. The true position is that I did not know that the love my parents used to give me could be found outside our home.

Henrietta said: “I left home because I wanted to be on my own and I wanted freedom. I did not want to depend on anybody, so I went in search of a job. Unfortunately, I fell into wrong hands.

“The kidnappers gave me everything. But I will not leave home again. I love my parents,” begging her parents to forgive her and that she was not kidapped by the family she was rescued from.
