The Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, has been petitioned over alleged deliberate misman-agement of Permanent Voter Cards,PVCs, distribution across five local government areas in Lagos State, resulting in alleged disenfranc-hisement of prospective voters in 24 wards.
Concerns were also raised over the location of satellite polling units and the composition of INEC adhoc staff in the area, said to be members of the All Progressives Cong-ress, APC.
Signed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial candidate in Lagos West Senatorial District,
Mr. Segun Adewale, the petition revealed that most registered voters in some wards were yet to receive their PVCs in Ibeju Lekki, Alimosho, Ikeja, Ifako Ijaiye LGAs.
In Alimosho LGA, the petition listed the affected wards as:”Ward 1-061, 062, 087, 081, 059, 072, 023, 017, 009, 70, 89, 71, 72, 84. Ward 2-004,009, 062, 018, 068, 061, 087, 026, 072, 023, 017, 014, 049, 019. Ward-3, 004, 005, 007, 013, 022, 040, 051, 026, 037. Ward-4, 036,038,047,047,051, 052, 050, 055, 058, 063, 066,069,073,074, 075, 098,103,105,111,133. Ward-5,024,025, 028,029,031,033,037,038. Ward-6,055, 008, 011, 013, 023.”
“Ward-7,052,048,053. Ward-8,024,003,008. Ward-9,024, 003, 009, 001, 017. Ward -10, 007, 023, 071, 051, 040, 041, 042, 072. Ward-11,003,051,0 55,033, 0 05,0 28, 030,0 61, 044, 045, 073, 074, 054, 053, 059.”
In Ibeju-Lekki: “Ward -1 (Sheriwon/Igbekodo). Polling unit 0-1. No one has collected PVC here.”
The wards it said were affected in Ifako-Ijaiye include: “Ward -C, 001,002,003,006,007,0 08,009,010, 023, 024,027, 028, 052,053. Ward -E,001,0 02,004,005,008, 0 10,012,011, 013,0 14,0 15,016,018,019, 023, 024,025,026,027,028,030. Ward-D005,011, 015,017, 020. Ward-B,003, 004, 009, 024.”
The petition further observed thus about In Ikeja LGA: “Ward -C, 012,017,018,021. Ward-D, 019,004,027.”
Affected areas in Lagos Mainland also include: “Ward-K,006,0 08,009, 010,014, 019,020, 029, 031, 030. Ward-1, 001,015,017, 018, 019, 006, 010,030,031, 024, 025, 009, 012, 035, 036. Ward-H, 036,005,034,033, 020,035.”
