PORT HARCOURT – The medical doctor that was kidnappedThursday, last week, at the Emohua General Hospital in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State has regained his freedom.

Dr. Azubike Okara was released yesterday night.

Spokesman of the Rivers State Branch of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Dr. Ibiso Bruce confirmed the development to Vanguard.

Bruce said Dr. Okara is presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility in the state. It cannot be ascertained whether a ransom was paid to secure the Doctor’s release.

Vanguard gathered that the kidnappers demanded a 20 million Naira ransom for the release of Dr. Azubike Okara.

Meantime, the police are yet to comment on the development.
