UGHELLI—PRIMATE of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, has cautioned against violence in this month’s general elections, saying that no politician is worth dying for.

Addressing newsmen at the Osubi Airport, near Effurun, Delta State, shortly after his arrival for the meeting of the Standing Committee of the church billed to hold at Ughelli, Okoh said: “We should be peaceful. Whoever God has chosen will emerge and our lives will continue. We should not destroy ourselves. No politician is worth dying for.”

He advised youths in the country not to allow themselves to be used by politicians for their selfish interest, saying “do not join anybody to create trouble. You are important to Nigeria and your parents.”

On his part, the Bishop of Ughelli Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cyril Odutemu expressed optimism that the elections will be violence free, during and after the exercise.
