Cleric warns leaders against heating up polity

LAGOS—Nigerian leaders have been urged against heating up the polity but rather rule with the fear of God, and form a common front to combat insurgency and other vices threatening the nation.

The remarks were made by Secretary of Conference, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Rt Rev. Raphael Okpoko during the presentation of newly elevated Presbyters of the church at City Mission Cathedral Methodist Church, Surulere, Lagos.

The cleric also advised ministers of God to facilitate and promote an enduring peace and to also assist those in the nation’s leadership position with prayer for the unity of the nation.

Those who were elevated were Very Rev. Williams Allotey-Pappoe from Chapel of Christ Healing Cross, Idi-Araba and Administrative Executive of the Conference, Wesley House, Marina, Lagos, Very Rev Michael Icha Iganga.
