ENUGU — It was a show of shame, yesterday, at a popular hotel in Enugu (name withheld) weekend, as a serving Commissioner in Enugu State (names withheld) ambushed a House of Representatives aspirant (names withheld) for publishing his ordeal with the said commissioner having allegedly collected N10 million from the Reps aspirant.

The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said the police were investigating the cause of the fight and other relevant information.

However, it was learned that the fight might not be unconnected with an allegation by the Reps aspirant that the commissioner collected N10 million to help him secure the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ticket for Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency, but ended up working against him.

The aspirant, who briefed newsmen on the issue last week, it was learned, is bent on recovering his money from the commissioner.

Although the commissioner denied the allegation, the Reps aspirants told journalists that he actually reported a case of threat against the commissioner to the police in Enugu for which he was invited for questioning.

“In 2007, when I got the form to contest for House of Reps seat, I was approached by these people who told me that they can help me ensure that I got the ticket. They said I should provide them with N3.5 million, which I did. I got the money and took it to the commissioner’s house.

“Recently, the same commissioner called me and asked if I am still interested in the Reps position and at the end they collected N10 million from me and did nothing. I want my money back.”
