Man jailed 6 years for forgery

A Federal High Court sitting in Bauchi State has sentenced one Bello Muhammad to six years in prison for forgery.

Muhammad was arrested on December 25, 2013 in Gamawa town, Bauchi State, for allegedly being in possession of fake N1,000 notes amounting to N471,000.

He was charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commi-ssion, EFCC, in February, before Justice Garba on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, possession and dealing in counterfeit currency.

Delivering his judgment, yesterday, Justice Garba sentenced Muhammad to two years each on counts one and two, and a year each on counts three and four.
