Yenagoa — The Joint Task Force, JTF, has inaugurated a high- powered inquiry to unravel the circumstances leading to the killing of three protesting workers at Chevron facility in Escravos, Delta State.

Accordingly, the military authorities have withdrawn the soldier allegedly involved in last week’s shooting, which sources blamed for the weekend attack on the company’s pipeline between Makaraba and Otunana, even as the military described the attack as an isolated incident.

Coordinator of Joint Media Campaign Centre of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, confirmed the development in a statement made available to newsmen in Yenagoa.

According to him, the embattled soldier, if found culpable, would face severe sanctions.

Speaking on the unfortunate incident in which a soldier’s bullet allegedly fell three protesting workers, Lt Col Antigha said “the JTF has withdrawn the soldier, while a high-powered inquiry has commenced to unravel the circumstances behind the shooting. The soldier will face severe sanctions if found culpable.”
