…To summon Works Minister

UMUHIA—SHOCKED by the deplorable condition of federal roads in the South East, Chief Olisa Metuh-led Publicity and Evaluation Committee, has vowed to summon the Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, for urgent intervention to save the people of the zone from avoidable road carnage.

Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, decried particularly the state of federal roads in Aba, the commercial city of Abia State, saying the roads deserved urgent attention.

According to him, apart from deplorable conditions of the Federal roads in Aba, there was also the need for the minister to visit all the federal roads in the entire South East zone most of which are dead traps.

Speaking after inspecting some on-going and completed projects by the Chief Theodore Orji-led government, Metuh said though some of the Federal roads in the zone were being reconstructed, that there were more works to be done in that sector.

According to him, “During our tour of Abia State, we were able to see the diagnostics centre, dialysis centre, and eye and heart centres at different parts of the state which the people of the state and others from outside the state have been assessing for their health problems.

”We also saw the new international conference centre which is the best in the zone and number three in the whole country, including the twin state secretariat for workers and the E-library which is the only one of its kind in the entire South East zone.”
