UGHELLI— CHAIRMAN of Peoples Democratic Party Faithful, PDPF, Uvwie Local Government Area chapter, Delta State, Mr. Napoleon Adibu, yesterday, described the emergence of Mr. Henry Baro as the party’s consensus candidate for the October 25 council elections in the council as a good omen for the people of the area.

Adibu, who spoke to Vanguard in Ughelli, described media reports that crisis was looming in the area as a result of the emergence of Baro as PDP consensus candidate in Uvwie “as mischievous and misleading. The report does not reflect the true wishes of the people of Uvwie.

“What happened on Wednesday is the true reflection of Uvwie people’s wishes, where both the leadership and followership of PDP came together to air their views on who should fly the party’s flag in Uvwie in the coming council elections.

“The Wednesday election of a consensus candidate was done with the consent of all the aspirants; so for anybody to say that the election is kangaroo is unimaginable.

“The five delegates per ward, which was used in the election to pick a consensus candidate ahead of the primaries slated for Saturday was suggested by Mr. Dick Ani during a meeting held on Tuesday and was supported by Mr. Peter Abugewa and Mr. Ramsey Onoyake, which was adopted by all.
“Baro is a symbol of unity, peace and progress in Uvwie and we congratulate him on his emergence.”
