Chefde mission of Team Nigeria, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye has hailed the spectacular performance of Blessing Okagbare in winning the 100 m gold medal at the Commonwealth Games describing the gold medal as ‘’mother of all gold medals”.

‘’This is the Mother of all gold medals. She has broken her personal best record on her way to winning the gold. She also shattered her Season’s best before also erasing the Games record with her 10.85secs win.

“You can see that it was not an easy thing and that makes this gold the mother of all gold medals. Don’t forget also that she beat the best in the World to breast the tape first. We are talking of Jamaica’s Veronca Campbell-Brown and Keron Stewart. These are World beaters on their own. I’m short of words. I am proud. I’m happy and we are proud of Blessing Okagbare”, Elegbeleye who is also the Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, said.

He also noted that all medals won at the Games deserve respect and praised Team Nigeria athletes who have been wonderful in fighting for honours for their fatherland out of the 71 nations at the Commonwealth.
