Etisalat claims 45% of porting subscribers

By Prince Osuagwu

Etisalat Nigeria has claimed that it inherited about 45 percent of porting in Nigeria since the Mobile Number Portability was introduced by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, last year.

The network also said that nine percent only ported out of its network to others.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Mathew Wilsher, announced it, Wednes-day, in Lagos to unveil its new portability campaign.

Buttressing his argument, Wilsher said that the network was on the 15 million subscriber mark when NCC introduced number portability, and that the system had helped it grow its subscriber base to about 19.3 million.
