AKURE—GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State yesterday expressed hope about the future of the country as Nigeria marked 15 years of democracy. In his democracy day message in Akure, Dr Mimiko said “Nigeria, our country would survive its present travails and triumph over its internal and external enemies.”

He said though the country appeared to be tilting towards the precipice, it was indeed at its turning point for good as all its challenges would soon become history.

“We are at that point where our greatest challenge is before us and the moment we surmount it, we’ll move forward as a country.”

Dr Mimiko said the manifest destiny of Nigeria as a strong, prosperous and united nation would be fulfilled as soon as the scourge of insecurity and the predisposing conditions awere addressed.

“With continued delivery of democracy dividends here and there”, the governor said, “the portents are for true, tangible inclusive growth and development in our country.”
