ABUJA – IN a bid to promote Tourism Sector in Nigeria, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has planned to host food fiesta to showcase African dishes to the world. The conference with the theme; ‘One Hundred Years of Food, Culture and Hospitality in Nigeria’ is to market Nigerian food varieties.
Director General of NIHOTOUR, Dr Munzali Dantata said there some eateries or restaurants in the country that their foods project the name of continent they come from, therefore, they want to use Nigerian foods to project the country.
Dantata disclosed that the food fair that will hold next month will provide a platform for organizations that run hospitality businesses to promote their brands.
According to him, “the fair is focused on the best international standards and practices taking into consideration our cultural values, customs and traditions, so as to ensure that the target audience and participants are satisfactorily informed, entertained and educated.”
The Board Chairman of NIHOTOUR, Kanayo O. Kanayo said the fiesta is to bring transformation in the food sector of Nigeria.
”We should set agenda in the food sector, we can create employment. As we celebrate the food fair, we should view it as part of the transformation agenda, we should help in marketing it.”
