THE People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed displeasure over the partiality shown by state broadcasting station, EKTV.

While it accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration for allegedly prevailing on the station not to air its programme, the party said it may petition the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC.

We may petition NBC –PDP Speaking with Vanguard, the state publicity secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole said:  “The broadcasting corporation of Ekiti State has been bad against the PDP; the station has been turned to the broadcasting service of Fayemi and not of Ekiti State. It has been an embarrassing situation.

Anytime you tune to the station, it is nothing short of praising Fayemi and the APC; they no longer balance their stories. We are even thinking of reporting them to the higher authorities, that is, the NBC because it has been so terrible.Even when we take our press releases there, when they are supposed to charge N15,000, they charge us N30,000.

They do that to scare us away. That was why we bluntly refused to participate in a debate called by the station because it was meant for personal aggrandizement.”
PDP’s trying to draw attention— APC

In its defence, the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, picked holes in PDP’s allegations, saying the party is only trying to draw attention to itself. Spokesperson of the organisation, Dimeji Daniels, said: “It is surprising that the PDP could make that claim because all the political parties in Ekiti State have been displaying their programmes on EKTV including their jingles.

Just last week, all the directors-general of the campaign organisations, including that of Ayo Fayose was invited for a debate at the station.”
According to him, “the directors-general of both the PDP and LP did not show up for the programme, the same thing happened when chairmen of political parties were invited, the PDP chairman was not there.

”Besides he said “EKTV has been covering their campaign rallies. This did not happen during the administration of the PDP, especially during the administration of Ayo Fayose.

The PDP is just trying to draw attention and it is just of lack of what to say.”
