Ekiyor tasks FG on Boko Haram

PORT HARCOURT—PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has been urged to take the needed steps to crush Boko Haram insurgency in the North.

Former president, Ijaw Youth Council, Dr. Chris Ekiyo who spoke to Vanguard on the state of insecurity in the North, expressed worries.

Ekiyo, who is the Chairman, Patani Local Government Area, Delta State, said the President should strengthen the Nigerian army and other security bodies in the country to put an end to the insurgency, adding that the security of lives and property should top government’s efforts.

The council boss said he was convinced that if the military was asked to effectively address the situation, it would achieve appreciable result.

According to him, Nigerian Army had been involved in quelling terrorism in several parts of the world.
