THE Managing Director of BKG Exhibitions, and Chairman Organising Committee of the Lagos Motor show, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Agwu has said that the strategic promotion of the spare parts sector at the on-going Lagos Motor show is aimed at enhancing the development of the nation’s cottage industries in the auto sub sector.
Mr. Agwu who was speaking during the opening of the 9th edition of Lagos Motor show at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos said that this resulted in their partnership with SENEXPO International Fair of Turkey to bring together a large number of foreign and Nigerian based reputable original equipment manufacturers/dealers on spare parts and accessories across the globe to participate at the on-going fair.
“Just like the past two editions, there is strategic promotion of the spare parts sector in this edition. This is as a result of our guided intention to enhance the development of cottage industries in the sub sector, especially now that there is a new automotive policy in place. According to the BKG boss, their purpose of bringing the spare parts manufacturer to Lagos is to take advantage of the strategic location of Lagos to automotive business in West Africa.
“Our intention in bringing them to Lagos, which is the hub of automotive business in West Africa is to enable Nigerians and neighbouring West African countries engaged in auto spare business work out rewarding and lasting business relationship with them.
Adding that this would save the troubles of going abroad to seal up such business deals and most importantly bring these foreign companies into the country thereby resulting in increased activities in their sector which will rub off positively on the sector. Mr. Agwu argued that with the current development in the automotive industry in Nigeria any serious player in the industry cannot but key into the events of the Lagos Motor show to showcase its capability and entrepreneurship.
To this end, he stated that Nigeria is very important to the global automotive business as virtually all brands in the industry compete to enter and capture the market, adding that the nation needs an internationally recognised auto fair to help showcase and open this important market and its potentials to attract the much desired investment to develop the auto sector.
