An expanded National Security Council meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan, the service chiefs and heads of security agencies and the governors of the thirty six states of the federation was, on Thursday, boycotted by Governors under the aegis of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Eight-governorsPresident Goodluck Jonathan convened the meeting to review the escalating security situation in the country in the wake of the bombing of a bus station in Nyanya and the abduction of hundred students from a girls secondary school in Borno state.

But addressing state House correspondents after the meeting, the governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio claimed that the meeting was at the instance of PDP governors and APC governors were not invited.

He could however not give any explanation for the presence of the governors of Anambra and  Ondo states who belong to All Progressive Grand Alliance And Labour party respectively.

It would be recalled that while announcing yesterday’s meeting, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati said  the president will meet with all the governors to review the security situation in the country.
