Investment drive: VP Sambo meets with Prince Al-waleed

In an effort to woo more or-eign investors into the country, Vice President  Namadi Sambo, yesterday, met with Forbe’s fifth richest man in the world and Saudi Prince, Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz al Saud, in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

At the meeting, Sambo, acquainted him with the giant strides Nigeria was making in her quest for prosperity, including the privatisation of the power sector; the opportunities that abound in the development of gas infrastructure as well as government’s plan to invest $1billion in the sector, assuring the billionaire of the viability of the sector.

A statement  by Sambo’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mallam Umar Sani, said that the Vice President also briefed the business mogul on the developments in the upstream and downstream sectors of the economy in the areas of marginal fields, refineries, chemical as well as fertiliser, among others.

’’He also availed the billionaire prince of the opportunities in the transport sector such as the deep sea ports, railways, and roads to be constructed on a public private partnership.

’’Other investments include  the local sugar production, dams for  irrigation, the industrial framework for Nigeria in the auto mobile industry, development of steel and other solid mineral deposits including coal for power plants and the opportunities being unlocked by the Halal Meat industry, among other sectors.

’’Arc Sambo also informed the prince of the Centenary City project and the need for private investments as well as the planned regional routes that connect Lagos (in Nigeria) – Benin Republic-Togo-Ghana-Cote D’Ivoire which agreement would soon be signed and assured the prince that Nigeria would provide the enabling environment for investors to participate in the business environment and thanked him for the confidence he has in the country.
