AWKA—Prominent Senator of the South East, Senator Annie Okonkwo from Anambra Central, has called on all security agencies in the country to evolve a strategy aimed at restoring security confidence to South Easterners, as they prepare for the yuletide annual home return.
Senator Okonkwo, who made this call in Abuja while receiving a delegation of eminent  Igbo sons resident in FCT, who came on a solidarity visit, noted that, it had become a matter for grave national concern, that a hitherto adventurous race as the Igbos, are deprived of the unique and special joy the home coming for Christmas and New Year offers, because of scary multiple threats to their lives and limbs.
Senator Okonkwo  who emphasised that the cultural bonding, which these festivities offer his people bear direct impetus on developmental initiatives in the region, adding that if nothing was done urgently to re-assure them of their security and safety, a severe setback would have been afflicted on them without intent.
He called on the Inspector General of Police, the State Security Service, the Governors of the zone as the chief security officers in their states, and complemented  by authorised local vigilante groups to rise to the challenge of kidnappings, armed robberies, and wicked assassins that prowl the states unimpeded.
