AWKA — The Chief Maxi Okwu-led All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has appointed Chief Shedrack Anakwue as chairman of the party in Anambra State.

Anakwue was the leader of Igboadabe group that championed the emergence of a candidate from Anambra North as the next governor of the state.

Only recently, he held a news conference commending the people of Anambra State for electing Chief Willie Obiano as the new governor of the state and solicited the support of the entire Anambra people to ensure the success of the in-coming administration.

The appointment of Anakwue was silent on the fate of Chief Egwuoyibo Okoye who was named the state chairman of APGA during the controversial Awka convention of the party that produced Okwu as the national chairman.

A letter conveying the appointment was signed by Dr. Sagir Maideya, who is the national secretary of Okwu’s faction of APGA.

The letter, addressed to Anakwue read: “The National Working Committee, NWC, has reviewed the state of the party in the Anambra State and in line with our party constitution, you, Chief Anakwue will now step in as the acting state chairman.
