UMUAHIA—GOVERNOR Theodore Orji of Abia State has stated the desire by his administration on building an airport in the state.
According to him, the airport project is a noble project worth initiating, even if it will not be completed within the life of his administration.

Orji spoke in Umuahia when he received officials of Euro Asia Global Services Ltd, technical partners to CGCOC China construction group, who are interested in actualising the airport project.
The governor explained that the airport project was borne out of requests by Abia businessmen as  it would boost the economy of the state.
According to the governor, land for the project has been secured in a centrally located area of the state between Ikwuano and Olokoro in Umuahia South.
