*Iheanacho after the award
By Tony Ubani
RED-EYED President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Aminu Maigari did not hide his displeasure with the appearance of Golden Eaglet, Kelechi Iheanacho at the GLO-CAF awards in Lagos at the weekend.
Iheanacho who bagged the most promising young talent award came to the awards ‘not properly dressed’ to attract Maigari’s ire. His dressing was not pleasing for a teenager with his sprouting beards unshaven. Maigari queried the Chairman of the Technical Committee, Green, for not ensuring that the teenager appeared in the colours of the country at the awards.
“We should not send wrong signals with the dressing of a teenager who appeared rough at the awards. Maigari was angry and queried me over his appearance”, Green confirmed.
Green, however, said that there was little he could do as the father of the Golden Eaglet appears to have taken possession of his prized jewel. He also advised the father to listen and ask questions from those who know to avoid mistakes in the young lad’s blossoming career.
