Jonathan support group makes case for Tukur, others

BY FESTUS AHON

UGHELLI—NATIONAL President of Grassroots Coalition for Goodluck Jonathan, GCGJ, Mr. Gabriel Akpude, weekend, urged President Goodluck Jonathan not to sack the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamaga Tukur, Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe and Mr. Ahmed Gulak as a result of the crisis rocking the party.

Akpude, in a statement after a meeting of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the group, alleged that “the G-7 governors are trying to frustrate the peace of our great nation and the effort being made by Mr. President to develop our infrastructure.

“Hence, they want Mr. President to sack Mr. Gulak, the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Tukur and the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Oghiadomhe.

“These governors plan to cripple the system politically, which Nigerians will not allow. I, therefore, urge Mr. President to disregard the demands of the governors.”

“I appeal to the governors to join forces with Mr. President to develop our country.

“Secondly, the issue of asking Mr. President not to contest in 2015 is a non-issue as he is empowered by the constitution to contest and nobody can stop him.”
