BENIN—FORMER Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, Monday, alleged that some persons he described as mischievous, pasted the controversial 2015 campaign posters of President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to divert attention from the seeming improvement in the power sector and railway transportation, which had been achieved by Jonathan’s administration.

He said the President had in the past said that he will not comment on 2015 presidential election until 2014, and queried the argument by some Nigerians, that the posters may have been masterminded by the President despite the denial from the Presidency.

He said: “I think the people, who are still talking about this posters, are idle Nigerians. It is unfortunate.

“How can a sitting President, who has been governor of a state before, if he wants to run for election, will not tell the world that he is going to run? Why will he want to hide his intention?

“The President has said he knows nothing about the posters, why won’t people listen and believe him? The truth is that we are idle. We should face more importation issues.

“I knew he is not behind the posters. The people behind the posters are mischief makers and they know themselves. The posters are the handiwork of mischievous people. It is definitely not from him.”
