UGHELLI—THE first civilian Governor of Delta State, Olorogun Felix Ibru, has commended the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for the steps taken to provide succour to persons affected by the ravaging flood across the state.
Ibru who spoke through his wife, Chief Matilda Ibru after donating food items and other relief materials to all government designated camps in the State, said the state government had displayed a high sense of responsibility to displaced persons by meeting their material, physical and health needs in all the camps.
Also Olorogun Oscar Ibru, yesterday, donated food items and other relief materials to flood victims at the Oharisi Primary School camp, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Ewu and Otu-Jeremi camps in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.
Presenting the items, Ibru expressed sympathy with the victims and stated that the donation was his token contribution to the welfare of the displaced persons.
Describing the traumatic experience of the victims as painful, Ibru said he saw it as his responsibility to make the donation, saying, “If I had my way I would have taken all these children to my home.”
He called on the international community and well meaning Nigerians to complement the efforts of government in alleviating the hardship of the displaced persons no matter how little.
Similarly, the Executive Assistant to the State Deputy Governor, Christabel Obiuwevbi stressed the need for all hands to be on deck in meeting the needs of all those displaced by the flood.
Obiuwevbi who also donated relief materials to flood victims at Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South, Oharisi Primary School, Ughelli North, AGGS at Ozoro, Isoko North local government areas of the State and Etsako Skill Acquisition Centre, Fuga in Edo State, said there was need for the people to be personally identified with.
