ASABA—GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan has warned his commissioners and other office holders against organizing elaborate parties in commemoration of his birthday. He advised them to rather channel such funds to improve the lives of less-privileged ones in the society.

Uduaghan, who gave the warning weekend during a symposium titled: “What is Happiness”, organized  by The Pathfinders, a  pressure group, geared towards good governance, to mark his 55th birthday, made it clear that it was not in his character to condone elaborate parties.

He, however, remarked that “some day, when I leave office as governor, I will celebrate”.
The symposium, which was moderated by the immediate past Director General of NTA , Dr. Tonnie Iredia, featured Professor Emeritus, Tekena Tamuno, Professor Sam Oyovbaire, among others as discussants.

Also at the weekend, a renowned historian, Professor B.I.C. Ijomah delivered a lecture  titled, “Alumni Association and National Development” during the dinner/award night organized by the Asaba chapter of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Alumni Association.

Welcoming the guests, the Chairman of the Asaba chapter, Mr. Emmanuel Ikomi, said “we have earmarked the sum of N.2million for the purchase and distribution of books to our alma mata, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, having consulted with the university librarian”.

He added that for  the past one week, AAU alumni association, Asaba chapter, had been engrossed in activities with a thanksgiving service and a visit to Pro Labore Dei Orphanage as well as Federal Medical Centre to present gift items  to the less privileged and sick children.
