Arrangements are in top gear for the ‘pulling out’ of one of Africa’s most decorated women footballer, Perpetua Nkwocha whose testimonial has been fixed for November 18.

The organising com-mittee which is headed by Dr. Rafiu Ladipo is made up of  sports personalities like Aisha Falode, veteran Coach Paul Hamilton, Effiong Nyong, Paul Ogazi, Ademola Olajire, Mitchel Obi among others.

Speaking in a pre-event briefing in Lagos Thursday, Ladipo said “Nigerians must learn to appreciate their heroes and heroines when they are alive so that they can be seen as role models for the younger ones.”

Reeling out Nkwocha’s personal achievements, Ladipo said, “she has attended 5 African Women Championships, four times African Footballer of the Year award winner, been to several World Cups where she won Most Valuable Player on three occasions and the won the Golden Boot Award on two occasions.”

Ladipo said world soccer stars like Abby Wambach of the USA, Mata of Brazil, among others will be part of Nkwocha’s testimonial.

A book titled “The African Football Legend” on the story of Perpetua Nkwocha written by Harry Awurumibe will also be launched on that day.
