OWERRI—IMO State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, weekend threatened to impound any vehicle that was not road worthy, during these ember months.
The Sector Commander, Mr. Haliru Baba Halilu, read the riot act while addressing journalists after the sitting of a mobile court that tried traffic offenders in Owerri.
He said: “The Command appeals to vehicle owners and drivers to ensure that their vehicles are road worthy, as we will not hesitate to impound any rickety vehicle found plying the roads in our jurisdiction.”
The Sector Commander said the mobile court sentenced no fewer than 81 traffic offenders to varying sums of fine for flouting traffic laws, saying that Section [10]7 of the Act establishing the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, fully backed the establishment of the mobile court.
He said: “A breakdown of some of the offences shows that 37 were arrested for Light Sign Violation, LSV, 20 for Seatbelt Violation, SBV, six for overloading, OLV, seven for Caution Sign Violation, CSV, and five for Failure to Move Over, FMO.”
