Nigerian software engineering expert, Abeeb Oladele, has continued to make significant strides in Africa’s technology industry following his appointment as Engineering Manager at Stears, one of the continent’s leading data and intelligence companies.

In his new role, Oladele leads multidisciplinary teams across backend engineering, frontend development, data engineering and DevOps, driving the development of technology solutions that support business intelligence and decision-making across Africa.

His elevation follows years of outstanding performance in software engineering and technology leadership. Before becoming Engineering Manager, he served as Technical Lead, where he introduced automation that reduced incident response time to virtually zero and shortened code review turnaround from two days to about four hours.

As a Senior Mobile Engineer, he contributed to the development of applications that ranked among the top on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store while delivering features that improved user engagement and operational efficiency.

Oladele’s professional experience also includes working with Pluto TV, a United States-based streaming platform owned by Paramount Skydance, where he contributed to projects that accelerated product delivery and helped his team win the company’s Ascent Hackathon. He also worked at CanaryTech, where he participated in the development of digital and agency banking solutions.

Earlier in his career at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), he led the development of the organisation’s first internally developed mobile application, designed healthcare management systems for its 39 offices and built a cooperative management platform that processed transactions worth over ₦1 billion.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Oladele is widely recognised for mentoring aspiring technology professionals through platforms such as Kibo School, the Andela Learning Community and Questlink Network. His contributions to talent development earned him recognition as a top mentor and sponsorship for a Google Developer Advocate certification examination.

Speaking on his vision, Oladele said he hopes to establish a world-class technical skills institution to equip young Africans with globally competitive digital skills.

He urged young people to remain committed to hard work, consistency and continuous learning, noting that determination remains the key to lasting success.

Born in Ketu, Lagos State, Oladele studied Electrical Engineering at Yaba College of Technology before transitioning into software engineering. His journey began with installing satellite television systems as a teenager before discovering software development during an internship, a career path that has since seen him rise to one of Africa’s leading engineering management positions.
