ABUJA – THE Southwest Commonwealth Eduversity, United Kingdom, UK, has recognized and honoured a prominent community leader, Hon. Anthony Igbagri, and his wife, Mrs. Margaret Irima Oko Igbagri, for their contributions and impact to society with the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on education and entrepreneurship.

Hon. Igbagri received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Education (Doctor Honoris Causa), while his wife was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate in Entrepreneurship in recognition of her achievements and impact in business development and empowerment initiatives.

The awards were presented alongside similar honours conferred on Hon. Offiono Offiono Odey, who received an Honorary Doctorate in Social Services, and Hon. Francis Odachi Ekpo, who was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate in Education.

Announcing the honours, Southwest Commonwealth Eduversity explained that the awards were bestowed on the recipients in recognition of their exemplary contributions to leadership, education, entrepreneurship, social development and community service.

The institution also noted that the honorary distinctions are symbolic recognitions of merit and societal impact rather than academic qualifications, adding that the awardees have distinguished themselves through service and commitment to human development.

Reacting to the recognition, Hon. Igbagri expressed profound gratitude to the management, Academic Council and governing authorities of the university for what he described as a humbling and inspiring honour.

He said the award serves as a call to greater service and renewed commitment to educational advancement, community development and leadership excellence.

“This recognition is both humbling and inspiring. I consider it a call to continue contributing to educational development, community advancement and leadership excellence in service to humanity”, he said.

The education advocate also congratulated his wife and fellow award recipients, describing their honours as well deserved and reflective of their dedication to improving lives and supporting societal progress.

Meanwhile, he commended Southwest Commonwealth Eduversity for recognising individuals whose efforts have positively impacted their communities and contributed to sustainable development.

Hon. Igbagri further pledged to continue upholding the values of integrity, excellence and selfless service while supporting initiatives that promote educational growth, entrepreneurship, social welfare and community empowerment.

He said the recognition would inspire him to do more in advancing causes that create opportunities and improve the wellbeing of people.
