A new talent hunt initiative, Ebonyi Next Superstar, aimed at discovering and developing emerging talents in music and digital content creation, has been unveiled in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The reality show, which offers prizes worth N10 million, is designed to provide a platform for young creatives to showcase their talents and gain exposure within the entertainment industry.
Speaking at the unveiling, talent manager and movie director, Steve Rodstick Eze, said the competition would focus on identifying individuals with the potential to excel in music and content creation.
According to him, contestants will be selected through a free online registration process, with participants assessed on creativity, discipline, composure and overall performance.
“We are looking beyond talent to identify individuals with the qualities required to succeed in the entertainment industry,” he said.
Eze explained that the maiden edition of the programme would focus on music and content creation, describing both sectors as important components of the growing digital economy.
He disclosed that the competition would feature 10 selected contestants who will participate in a 20-day reality show involving a series of performance-based challenges.
The challenges, he said, will include original music performances, freestyle sessions and content creation tasks designed to test creativity and versatility.
Participation in the competition is free, and the organisers say the initiative is intended to expand opportunities for young people seeking careers in the creative industry.
Eze added that top performers would receive cash prizes from the N10 million pool, as well as professional development opportunities, including branding and management support.
Also speaking at the event, marketer and media personality, Chinecherem Okoro, popularly known as “Utonwa of Ebonyi,” described the initiative as an opportunity to promote local talent and encourage youth participation in the creative sector.
She said the project was designed to provide a platform for talented young people to showcase their abilities and gain wider recognition.
Okoro expressed optimism that the programme would contribute to the growth of the entertainment industry in Ebonyi State and beyond.
In his remarks, Henry Ogwudu said the inclusion of content creation in the competition reflects the growing influence of digital media and online creativity.
He noted that the programme could encourage participants to develop innovative and socially responsible content.
Organisers disclosed that online registration is currently ongoing and that 10 contestants will be selected to participate in the house phase of the competition.
They said eligible participants must be between the ages of 20 and 35, with selection based on talent, creativity and overall suitability for the programme.
According to the organisers, the competition will feature structured performance stages, including original song presentations, freestyle sessions and independent content creation assignments.
They also assured that contestants would be expected to maintain high standards of discipline and professionalism throughout the 20-day competition.
The Ebonyi Next Superstar reality show is scheduled to commence with official activities on July 25, with organisers expressing confidence that it will evolve into a major platform for talent discovery and creative development.
