The Executive Director of Resilience Rising and Community Development Foundation, Nigeria, Mr. Steven Folorunso has said that outcome of Work Disability Prevention and Integration, WDPI 2026, Conference will enhance lives of vulnerable communities and advancing inclusive development across Nigeria.

The confab, seventh in the series, held recently at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was themed:“Reflecting on the Past, Learning from the Present, Adapting to the Future.” 

Dr. Joel Moody, Chief Prevention Officer and Assistant Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Canada, were also in attendance during one of the conference sessions. 

The confab also brought together leading researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, employers, rehabilitation experts, and community development practitioners from across the world to discuss innovative approaches to work disability prevention, inclusion, and workforce integration.

Speaking on the significance of the conference, Folorunso noted that the event provided a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging best practices, and exploring practical solutions to challenges affecting persons with disabilities and vulnerable populations.

“Participation in WDPI 2026 aligns with the mission of Resilience Rising and Community Development Foundation to promote social inclusion, community resilience, sustainable development, and support for marginalized groups in Nigeria,” he stated.

During the conference, Folorunso  had the opportunity to engage with distinguished international experts and leaders in the field of work disability prevention and occupational health.

The interaction highlighted the importance of international collaboration in promoting workplace health, disability prevention, workforce integration, and inclusive development practices across different countries and regions.

“The knowledge and international connections gained from the conference will contribute to strengthening the Foundation’s programs and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable communities and advancing inclusive development across Nigeria.

“Resilience Rising and Community Development Foundation is a Nigerian non-governmental organization committed to empowering vulnerable communities through sustainable development, social inclusion, humanitarian support, education, capacity building, and community resilience initiatives,” Folorunso stated.
